White Pieces in my water
What is happening... I am getting white pieces in my water.
Calcium is very aggressive and it will stick to anything and everything. Alkaline/Ionized water is high in concentration of calcium. Thus you can get build up in the machine
Yes the ionizers have a cleaning system but this handles the ionization chamber and not the tubes, faucets and spouts of the ionizer
Normally this is not an issue for most people but if you live in an area with high hardness or drink water at high alkaline levels then it can be an issue.
Do not worry it is nothing major and can be handled in a few ways
To take care of your machine now you will need to clean your ionizer using a vinegar bath. See the instructions here on how to do it.
Vinegar Bath This will clean your ionizer but you must keep watch if you find you are having this situation frequently
Ways to prevent this from happening:
- On most machines you can select acidic water, this switches the output tube on the machines. By doing so you will be dissolving any calcium buildup in the normally alkaline tube output.
- Purchase the ionizer armor, which will prevent scale buildup in the machine. Click here for details This is recommended for people with installations that are installed under the sink or counter.
